I Love Her Hair!

I love the color of Ellen Barkin's hair- I couldn't take my eyes off of it- hence this post. As you all know I'm training to be a colorist and I'm amazed at how natural and soft the color looks against her skin- not too yellow, not too white. Amazing! Great haircolor amazes me these days- I guess it's the chemist in me (yes, I have a BS in Chemistry!) formulating the color, taking into account her natural haircolor, contributing pigments, etc, etc. Ok- so here are my product recommendations for maintaining great color (I've just started using this product line at the salon and it's great!

Cleanse the hair with the Okara Protective Radiance Shampoo. It strengthens, hydrates and works to preserve haircolor.

Treat the hair with the Okara Protect Color Restructuring and Protective Radiance Mask. It works to preserve haircolor, while strengthening the hair. It detangles and returns the hair to it's normal pH.

Protect the hair with the Okara 2 Phases No Rinse Conditioner. Not only does it preserve haircolor, but it also contains UV filters which protect the hair from the sun.

Style as desired!

I Love Her Hair!

I love Tracee Ellis Ross aka "Joan Carol Clayton" on "Girlfriends", and I love her hair! Get her look with my favorite products:

Cleanse the hair using Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo. While cleansing the hair, it works to smooth and soften the hair while adding back moisture.

Treat the hair using the Davines LOVE Smoothing Conditioner. It's special blend of conditioners leaves the hair soft and shiny while smoothing the hair's cuticle and bringing the hair back to it's normal pH. Next, spray hair with the Davines Dede Replenishing Leave-In Mist Conditioner.

Protect hair from heat styling and the environment with the Davines Defining Drops.

Style as desired!

The Mischo Book of Beauty: DREAM Book Launch

Inspired by Carrie Bradshaw's (Sex and the City) party to celebrate the launch of her book. And, of course, my publicist (like Carrie's publicist Samantha) will be responsible for the media, sponsors, venue, decor, catering, invites, goodie bags, DJ and the signature cocktail! My publisher will organize and pay for the book tour, and I will be a special invited guest on Oprah to discuss my book.

My DREAM book launch.

Stay tuned...

Sex and the City Quote:

Carrie: Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.

Mischo Beauty School: Eyelashes 101

This first lesson is inspired by the first Mischo Beauty Icon, Diana Ross and her iconic look of the 60’s and 70’s.

Lashes are my favorite new beauty accessory, and my biggest challenge when it comes to applying my own. I’ve mastered applying them to everyone but myself- but technique and control come from practice.

At any rate there are two types of artifical lashes- band lashes and individual lashes. Band lashes (also called strip lashes) are applied with adhesive to the natural lash line. Individual lashes are separate artifical eyelashes that are applied to the lash line one at a time. The eyelash adhesive is the product used to make the artificial eyelashes adhere, or stick, to the natural lash line. Eyelashes are available in human hair, animal hair, synthetic fibers and are available in a variety of colors.

Procedure:
1. Decide on length and desired effect.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Curl eyelashes with an eyelash curler.
4. Remove eyelash from package and trim to fit the curve of the eyelid.
5. Apply a thin strip of lash adhesive and allow to set for a few seconds.
6. Apply the band lash to the eyelash line.
7. Use tweezers to gently press the band eyelash.
8. Retouch the lash line with eyeliner.

Remove the lashes using a warm compress or make-up remover. Please e-mail me for information on the procedure for applying individual lashes.

WWD Beauty Biz: The Louboutin Manicure

I just received my May issue of WWD Beauty Biz and if you love Christian Louboutin shoes as much as I do, then you definitely noticed the write-up (pg 18) on the Louboutin Manicure originally featured in Grazia Magazine. Developed by Zoe Pocock, of London's Charles Worthington salon, each nail is painted black with a red coat on the underside. Fabulous. Just Fabulous!

I Love Her Hair!

I love Victoria Beckham's new highlighted, cropped, asymmetric haircut. Here are my recommendations for maintaining sexy, healthy, beautiful color-treated hair:

Cleanse the hair using Kerastase Bain Miroir. While eliminating build-up, it helps to enhance the color's shine, detangle and protect the hair.

Treat the hair using the Kerastase Chroma Reflect Masque. Massage in from roots to ends and leave on for 10 minutes. It smooths the hair's cuticle while bringing the hair back to it's normal pH. Protects and extends the color.

Protect hair from heat-styling with the Kerastase Chroma Protect. Apply a quarter sized amount to towel dried hair and proceed with styling. While providing protection, it also smooths the cuticle and provides shine.

Style as desired!
