Target Beauty: Mixed Chicks

As many of you already know from following the blog this summer, I am in the process of transitioning my hair back to it’s natural texture.  And like I said before – it is hard work!  But those of you who know me, know that I am always up for a challenge.  The challenge with this lies where the newly grown hair texture meets the old relaxed hair texture – so with me that means I have my natural kinky curly texture blending with the old straight relaxed texture.  So when Target asked me to test out a few products by MIXED CHICKS, I gladly welcomed the opportunity!

I tested the following regimen of 3 products:

MIXED CHICKS Sulfate Free Shampoo:
Because this shampoo is free of sulfates, it does not lather like your regular shampoos.  After using this shampoo, I felt that it thoroughly cleansed my hair leaving it soft and manageable.

MIXED CHICKS Deep Conditioner:
After shampooing, I applied the deep conditioner, combing it through my hair from roots to ends, and allowing it to sit on my hair covered with a plastic cap for 30 minutes.  After rinsing, my hair felt soft and I was able to use a wide-tooth comb to begin the detangling process with no issues.  Being able to easily do that to my type 4B hair makes this conditioner an automatic winner!

MIXED CHICKS Leave-In Conditioner:
The true test of a product and haircare line is when it comes to thoroughly detangling my hair and prepping it for styling.  I have course, thick and tightly coiled hair which means I spend the most time during this part of the process.  Well, because I was able to begin the detangling process immediately after deep conditioning, using the leave-in conditioner made it a breeze!

I loved using this regimen and highly recommend it.  It was created for all hair types – even chemically treated hair.  I’ve always believed that products from the same haircare line are specifically formulated to work with one another and because of that I also recommend using these products together!

  1. I’ve always been curious about Mixed Chicks shampoo & conditioner but have never tried them. Maybe I’ll give the products a try. Great review.

  2. Thank for this review.
I tried to use shampoo without sulfates and I was really unhappy because my long and heavy hair was not clean after using non-sulfates shampoo.
How many this kind of shampoo do you need to clean your hair?
    Thank you
